Mediation Services
Mediation has been a part of my life as a person and as a professional. It is part of the “who I am,” my identity and my ontology. One could say that I learned mediation as a child, born a middle child in a family of ten children. Each of us had certain roles which emerged from their unique, “I am.” Mine was a mediator. Later in life, I continued to hone my practice with training and “on the job” experience.
Conflict is natural and, even, healthy, at times. When it occurs, we can benefit from neutral third-party support to navigate the sources of conflict when conflicts occur. Conflict resolution through mediation can be a particularly important vehicle for coming to true understanding and for arriving at genuine lasting peace.
My first clients in mediation were with Special Education mediation in the Department of Education in the State of Louisiana. Later, my practice expanded to work with others in nonprofit organizations in a wide variety of disputes around various forms of human service, education and otherwise.
As a certified mediator through the Atlanta Center for Justice, I practice general mediation but not as a civil lawyer. I work with disputing parties as a “neutral” to identify and clarify issues, to define strategies for resolution and, hopefully, create mutually satisfying agreements.
My practice in this area has been an essential dimension of my leadership
as dealing with conflict in the workplace, in church or religious communities,
or in families, is an inevitable part of life and, in my view,
an essential dimension of growth.
I am registered as a mediator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution, the administrative supervisory arm of the Georgia Supreme Court’s Commission on Dispute Resolution.
